Water-borne resin is an organic polymer material relative to oil-soluble resin. Usually there are water-borne acrylic resin, water-borne alkyd resin, water-borne epoxy resin, water-borne silicone resin, water-borne polyurethane resin, water-borne fluorocarbon resin and so on. In recent years, with the development of macromolecule materials, the progress of matching technology and the sophistication of polymer interpenetrating network theory, various modified waterborne resins emerge in endlessly, such as organosilicon modified polyurethane resin, acrylic acid, epoxy modified polyurethane resin and so on. This makes waterborne coatings and waterborne resins more and more abundant, their functions more and more perfect, and their applications more and more extensive, and has become One of the highlights of China's coatings industry.

The dispersion state of waterborne PU resin can be divided into water-soluble, water-emulsion and colloidal dispersion. Only the ion type can be divided into cationic, anionic and non-ionic. At present, anionic water emulsion is mainly studied.

There are two preparation methods of waterborne PU resin. One is the external emulsification with emulsifier forced emulsification; the other is the internal emulsification with hydrophilic genes in the molecule without emulsifier. External emulsification requires higher equipment and complex technology. At present, the internal emulsification method is used, that is, introducing the OK gene into the polyurethane macromolecular chain, neutralizing the carboxyl group of the resin chain to make it hydrophilic, and then emulsifying it into a stable emulsion at high speed.
